Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy in Open Access

The Editorial Board ensures long-term preservation and open access to all published materials of the journal, in compliance with international standards of open science, the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), and institutional and national policy requirements.

All journal articles are stored in the journal’s own electronic archive and on its official website. Authors are entitled to deposit the Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in institutional or subject repositories, as well as to place research data in open national and international repositories. For each article and dataset, a DOI must be indicated to guarantee proper identification and citability.

International metadata standards (DOI, ORCID) are applied. Archiving is carried out in formats that meet long-term preservation requirements (PDF, XML). Integration with databases and indexing systems is ensured.

All articles and data are available in open access without restrictions for readers. The Editorial Board guarantees uninterrupted access to the journal’s archive and its materials. In the event of technical changes or platform migration, the Editorial Board ensures the preservation and accessibility of all materials. The use of DOIs and international repositories guarantees long-term accessibility and reproducibility of scientific results.

Open Access and Archiving

The Editorial Board allows authors to deposit the Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM), that is, the final version of the article after peer review and acceptance, in an institutional or subject repository. The deposited version must be available in open access to ensure maximum visibility and impact of the publication. Authors are required to provide full bibliographic information about the published version of the article in the journal, including the DOI. This policy is aimed at: promoting the dissemination of scholarly knowledge; increasing the visibility and citation of published research; ensuring compliance with international open access standards and institutional requirements.

Open Data Policy

The Editorial Board supports the principles of open science and allows authors to deposit research data that comply with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) in institutional, national, and/or international research data repositories. The Editorial Board requires authors to adhere to the open data policy. For each dataset, the DOI must be indicated in the article metadata to ensure proper identification and citation. This policy is aimed at: ensuring transparency and reproducibility of scientific results; increasing trust in published research; ensuring compliance with international standards of open science and the requirements of institutional and national policies.

Prevention and Counteraction of Plagiarism

The Editorial Board of the Legal Journal "Law of Ukrraine" adheres to the principles of academic integrity, international standards of publication ethics (COPE, DORA), and the requirements of Ukrainian legislation on preventing academic plagiarism. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and is regarded as a violation of academic integrity.

All manuscripts are subject to plagiarism checks using specialized software tools. The acceptable level of text similarity is determined by the Editorial Board, taking into account proper citations and bibliographic references. In cases of significant overlap, authors are notified and required to provide explanations or corrections.

If plagiarism is confirmed during the peer review stage, the manuscript is rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the Editorial Board applies COPE procedures and the requirements of Ukrainian legislation, which may include issuing a correction, publishing an official notice, or retracting the article. In cases of self-plagiarism, the Editorial Board may require the text to be reformulated or properly referenced to the author’s previous works.

Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy and originality of the submitted materials. Submission of a manuscript to the journal constitutes confirmation by the author of the absence of plagiarism and compliance with legal, ethical, and editorial policy standards.

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-Supported Technologies

The Editorial Board acknowledges the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in scientific research and the preparation of publications. The use of such technologies is permitted only in ways that comply with the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and reproducibility of results.

Authors may use AI tools for: technical assistance in language editing, stylistic improvement, and translation of texts; grammar, spelling, and formatting checks; generating ideas for structuring the text or identifying literature (with mandatory verification of source reliability); analysis of large datasets, provided that the methodology and algorithms are clearly described.

Authors are required to explicitly disclose in the manuscript all instances of using AI or AI-supported tools, specifying the technologies/services applied and the scope of their use.

The use of AI is strictly prohibited for: creating scientific content (texts, data, conclusions) presented as the author’s own results; fabrication or manipulation of data, images, or research findings; concealed use of AI without proper disclosure.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject a manuscript in cases of undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI. Violations of this policy are considered a form of unethical publication practice.

Conflict of Interest

The Editorial Board of the Legal Journal "Law of Ukraine" recognizes that conflicts of interest may arise for authors, reviewers, editors, or other participants in the publication process. Identifying and resolving such conflicts is essential to ensuring academic integrity and maintaining trust in research outcomes.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are obliged to inform the Editorial Board of any circumstances that may affect the objectivity of the evaluation or publication of an article (financial, professional, or personal). Notification may be provided in any written form (letter, email). If a conflict of interest is identified by third parties (readers, institutions), the Editorial Board will conduct an investigation.

If the conflict concerns an author, the Editorial Board may request an explanation and, if necessary, publish a notice of the conflict. If the conflict concerns a reviewer or editor, that individual will be recused from the review process.

If a conflict was concealed and discovered after publication, the Editorial Board will apply COPE procedures, which may include issuing a correction, clarification, or retraction of the article.

Decisions are made by the Editorial Board and may include: an official notice of the conflict of interest; issuing corrections or clarifications; recusal of the participant from the process; or retraction of the article in cases of serious violations.

The Editorial Board guarantees that all decisions regarding conflicts of interest are made in accordance with international COPE and DORA standards, and that commercial or personal interests do not influence editorial decisions.

The Editorial Board of the Legal Journal "Law of Ukraine" recognizes that the publication of articles authored by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the Editorial Board may create a potential conflict of interest. To ensure transparency and integrity, such manuscripts are assigned to an independent editor who has no conflict of interest with the author. The independent editor is responsible for organizing the peer review process and making the final publication decision. All decisions regarding the publication of articles by the Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Board members are made by the independent editor after receiving reviews under the double-blind peer review procedure. The Editorial Board guarantees that commercial or personal interests do not influence the decision-making process concerning the publication of articles authored by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the Editorial Board.
