Among the sectors of the economy, agriculture remains the most vulnerable to climate change, the main negative consequences of which are primarily: overheating of soils, which leads to degradation due to an increase in the number of droughts; reduced yields due to changes in the nature and amount of precipitation, changes in the areas of cultivation of agricultural crops, etc. Overall, climate change remains one of the main threats to sustainable development of the agricultural sector and food security. To a certain extent, climate change is caused by agricultural production, which requires from agricultural producers to search for certain technologies, application of agroecological practices aimed at its adaptation to climate change and prevention of its negative consequences. The current close-to-critical state of land is also one of the causes of climate change due to degradation processes, which emphasises the importance of preventing soil degradation, implementing measures for its restoration and low-carbon soil protection measures. The purpose of the article is to analyse legal support for agricultural adaptation, the use of and land protection in the agricultural sector to climate change.

In the context of climate change, the role of crisis monitoring of land and soil is growing, which requires the creation of a permanent monitoring system based on a broad system of indicators.

The problem of adaptation of the agricultural sector of the economy to climate change is multifaceted and can only be solved by taking a set of urgent measures, the main place in which belongs to the introduction of effective regulatory and legal support in this area.

Today, we can talk about the need to introduce climate-oriented agriculture and climate-oriented farming, which requires improvement of land legislation.
